Renew Visa in Colonia, Uruguay
My 3rd Buenos Aires Tango adventure, Wednesday , May 4, day 86
Dancing Tango in Buenos Aires for three months just isn't enough time for me, so I needed to renew my 90 day tourist Visa. On my first trip in 2009 I was able to successfully renew my visa at the office of migraciones, but in 2010 when I went to migraciones they said to come back on the following day because they were not taking any more applicants that day. I had made a last minute decision to extend my stay and decided to go to Colonia, Uruguay instead of waiting. So this year I didn't bother going to migraciones, I booked passage through Boquebus and returned to Colonia.
Back in the early 70's I owned a 1957 Blue Volkswagen Van. As I was walking down the main street in Colonia I spotted a similar year VW Van that was being used as an armored car for a local bank. There were two guards with shotguns outside the bank and the Van in the photo was double parked in front. It seemed a little bizarre to me thinking back 40 years to the days that I had owned a similar vehicle which I used for recreational purposes.
